System Families(MEP)

The three main system families used in MEP are “Cable Trays”, “Ducts”, and “Pipes”. New types are
not
frequently added, but the naming conventions for additional types are as follows:
Type Name Convention
Describes the type naming conventions for each category.Type Name Example
A list of examples of type names according to the rules is shown in a separate document. *This document includes not only system families (Cable Trays, Ducts, Pipes), but also component families (Mechanical equipment, Lighting fixtures, Outlets). Modeling Guide(MEP)Cable Trays
The Cable tray types are categorized based on their shape and purpose, with the naming convention being shape + (purpose). The template includes the following six items:
Ducts
The round and rectangular duct families are mainly used. Elliptical duct families are also
provided
in
the template. The types are categorized based on the branching method. The
direct
branch that opens
and
connects the main pipe is called “tap”, and the branch that uses the
T-junction of the branch
fitting is
called “tee”. The round duct has ” 00_丸ティー/Round tees”
and
” 01_丸タップ/Round taps”, and the
rectangular
duct has ” 00_角タップ/Rectangular taps” and
“01_角ティー/Rectangular tees”. They are numbered in order of
frequency of use. The rectangular
duct
family also has a type ” E_バスダクト/Busducts ” that can be used
when
drawing electric
busducts.
As duct types are not expected to be added, no naming convention has been
set.

Pipes
The type naming convention follows the Revit User Group (RUG) standard:
For design: Control number 2 digits + Purpose
For construction: Control number 3 digits + Pipe material name + Abbreviation
